Directions to our Waterfront Cabins and Herons Roost Building 13725 & 13730 Beach Drive on Lowell Point 3 miles south of Seward AK:
  • If you are driving to Seward from Anchorage, you'll leave Anchorage via the Seward Highway.
    • The Seward Highway is among the most beautiful highways in all of America. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.
    • Be on the look out for moose!
    • South of Anchorage be sure to check out Beluga Point for possible whale sighting and the hillsides for Dall sheep.
    • Please be sure to observe all speed limits, especially those through the little town of Moose Pass, about 30 miles north of Seward.
  • About 45 miles north of Seward, Route 1 turns east towards Homer and the Seward Highway becomes Route 9 and continues south.
    • If you are coming from Homer, you'll turn south here, at the wye.
  • Once you arrive in Seward, continue on the highway to the very end, or Mile 0, as we say. You'll be facing the back of the Alaska SeaLife Center.
  • Turn right onto Railway Avenue
    • After you pass the large waterfall on the right, Railway Avenue becomes Lowell Point Road
    • Continue on Lowell Point Road about two miles.
    • Please observe the 25 MPH speed limit and park only on the mountain side if you decide to stop.
    • There will be plenty of wildlife viewing along this road, including sea otters, sea lions, humpback whales, eagles and numerous sea birds.
  • As you approach Lowell Point, the road will move inland, and you'll cross a two lane bridge "Spruce Creek"
  • After crossing the bridge, there will be the opportunity to take a "short-cut" to the left (see below); for now continue on as the road bends in several places, eventually making a curve sharply to the left;  you will now be on Border Avenue.
    • You will be able to see the bay again, far in front of you at the end of this road.
  • To locate the waterfront cabins and Herons Roost, continue on Border Avenue all the way to the water; you'll be facing Miller's Landing at Beach Drive.
    • Turn LEFT onto Beach Drive, and drive through the waterfront campground. After you exit the campground, you'll pass a large "Chugach Massage" sign on the LEFT.  Look on your right for the sign for Angels Rest. The Wing, Gatehouse and Cloud 9 cabins are the first you'll come to on the water side, their parking spaces are marked. Check-in is after 4PM; your names should be on the welcome board. If not, please check in at our home/office across the road.
    • On the left, across from the waterfront cabins and the Angels Rest sign, you'll see the Herons Roost sign the Herons Roost building with the yellow door. Turn left into the driveway just past the Heron's Roost sign, and drive to the back of building.  Please be sure to park in the proper spot for your unit.  Check-in is after 4PM. Each room has a welcome board by door, please be sure to find your name!
  • TO TAKE THE "Short-Cut" - after crossing Spruce Creek, you can turn left into the driveway for "Silver Derby Campground" ... you are now driving on private property, but the owner welcomes the traffic.  When you reach the waterfront, turn right by the railcar that will be on your left - you are now on the north end of Beach Drive. Drive to just past the building you see with the red roof.  The waterfront cabins are on your left and the Herons Roost and our home office are to the right.
