Angels Rest  on Resurrection Bay

Heavenly Lodging in Seward Alaska

Sea Kayaking is a very  popular even for novices ~ We have a number of guests who bring their own kayaks  and pull them right up on the beach in front of the waterfront cabins, or launch them from South Beach when staying at the Hobbit Loft.  During the summer season there are a number of vendors who offer tours ranging from short to all day trips. Below we've listed our top two recommendations, both that offer departures from Lowell Point.  For novices interested in kayaking, but preferring calmer waters, check out the lake kayaking we mention below. Be sure to give yourself time to experience some heavenly relaxation in these very special cabins just south of Seward, Alaska, on the shores of Resurrection Bay, on the Kenai Peninsula, with spectacular wildlife and scenery surrounding them.

  • Liquid Adventures is a small company that gets RAVE reviews from our customers.  They love the staff and always report having an excellent time.  Their shorter trips depart from Lowell Point and they are just a short walk from the cabins which is a nice plus.  They offer 3 hour paddles, a longer 6-8 hour combination kayaking/hiking Resurrection Bay Getaway which combines exploring the historical WWII Fort McGilvary.  The Ultimate Aialik Bay and Glacier trip departs from the small boat harbor and is highly recommended; you begin your paddle in Aialik Bay and paddle among ice bergs, in an amazingly beautiful area.
  • Kayak Adventures is another small company that does an excellent job. They offer a large variety of tours, from short, 4 hour trips to all day trips. Custom trips for 2 guests are also available and very special. Departure is also from Lowell Point for their shorter trips, although you'll need to have checked in at their office in town before hand.
  • Chugach OUtdoor Center offers sea kayaking in the calm waters of Kenai Lake, a great way to experience the kayaking without the worry of rough waters

Important pre-planning information for kayaking in Alaska waters: The very best first layer to have on is true polypropelyne, including socks and gloves. Alaska waters are extremely cold, dressing properly is key to enjoyment and survival!
