Our 3 waterfront cabins (Wing, Gatehouse & Cloud 9) are extremely poplar, and offer charming, private, accommodations, right on the shores of Resurrection Bay! The Gatehouse cabin is even handicap and wheelchair accessible! Our Herons Roost building is a 4-unit cabin across the road from our waterfront with 4 cabin-like rooms, each equipped and designed like mini-cabins, with private entrances, great views, lots of amenities. All our lodging units are exceptionally clean, energy-friendly, allergy-friendly. All these units are also perfect for the self-catering or extended stay vacation since they offer kitchenettes equipped for light cooking! Definitions of the terms "Modern" & "Comfort": :

When we use the term "modern," we mean it in relationship to Alaska standards. Modern means that we have electricity (no generators running); we have our own water source (we do not rely on rain-catchment, hauling water or pumping water from other sources); we have all indoor plumbing (no outhouses, no outdoor showers); we use "on-demand" water heaters, for unlimited hot water; we have thermostat controlled heaters. We have wi-fi.

When we use the term "comfort," we mean great mattresses, flannel sheets & 6 pillows, Egyptian cotton towels, kitchenettes, & an extensive list of amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, like games, reference materials, binoculars. As your hosts, we strive to be accessible, if not in person, via phone, 24 hours a day during your stay; we care deeply that you have an enjoyable, comfortable visit!

Remember, you are visiting Alaska, the Last Frontier; so, in general, you will find a different kind of selection than lodging you may find in the Lower 48, (unless you stay in a major hotel (which, with the exception of our largest cities, are few and far between, if at all!)). There are many more 'ma & pa' operations to choose from: from extremely rustic to completely modern. So, be sure to do the necessary research, so you will be happy on your trip! Traveling to Alaska can be a bit like visiting a "foreign" country if you are not prepared! We also encourage you to remember the phrase "when in Rome ..." and be willing to give up a few of your creature comforts, in particular TV, in order to experience that aspect of the last frontier. ( And with the availability of wi-fi and 3G phones, you don't even really have to do that in most of our populated areas.)

Our location, the views from the cabins and rooms, the attention to details, the general ambiance of our lodging, will more than make up for the very few items we lack! We've worked hard to create some thing very special here,; we will do all that we can to ensure you have a happy, comfortable stay!

When you're not relaxing at the cabins, local activities include great fishing for salmon & halibut, amazing hiking trails, spectacular wildlife viewing, fantastic sea kayaking, unbelievable scenic & glacier viewing, dog sledding, boat tours into the Kenai Fjords National Park, & walks to Exit Glacier.
