Heavenly Lodging in Seward Alaska

Your Hosts Angels Rest Seward Alaska

Meet Your Hosts Angels Rest on Resurrection Bay is managed by Paul and Lynda, who have almost 60 years of  Alaska living between them.  Not only is the lodging they provide among the best around, they care deeply about your Alaska experience and will do everything in their powers to ensure you have as delightful a stay in Seward as is possible. They can also help you with your Alaska Itinerary, both with location selection and in avoiding some common pitfalls. The information they will provide you will help you make the most of your trip, whether it's your "once in a lifetime" Alaska Vacation, or you are among the many who visit Alaska every summer.

Paul and Lynda
Lynda, a native New Yorker who had been living in Michigan for 16 years, packed up and moved to Alaska in 1997, specifically to establish this business. Although she had been successful in several different careers, she had always dreamed of having a business of her own.  Then, after several close calls health wise, she came to the realization that life is short; better to build your dreams now rather than just dream about them in some distant future.

So, fulfilling her own dream of 20 years, she came to Alaska in March of 1997 to find a new home and start a business where she could share her appreciation of life with others. When she found the land on Beach Drive, on Lowell Point, she knew instantly she was meant to settle here.

To her, if there were a place where angelic beings came to rest and play; it would be here, on the shores of Resurrection Bay, one of the most beautiful places in the entire world. Hence the name of the business came to be.

In the summer of 1998, based upon neighbors' glowing recommendations, she hired her Lowell Point neighbor Paul H. Paquette, to build the first cabin for the business, which would serve as the office, and Lynda's residence. Paul, originally from Massachusetts, moved to Alaska in the early 1970s as a young man.  He is known throughout Alaska as a talented cedar shingle artist and Lynda was extremely excited that he consented to take on her cabin project. As in a fairy tale, and completely surprising both of them, they fell in love in the process of Lynda's cabin being built.

Paul completed the first guest cabin, the Wing Cabin, in the early summer of 1999; their first guest was in July of that year. They were married in December of 2001. In May of 2003 the Hobbit Loft opened, and in May of 2004 the newest cabin, the Gatehouse Cabin opened to glowing reviews. During the summer of 2004, Lynda retired from working for others (she'd been managing a 39 unit hotel for a number of years), and has been able to dedicate herself entirely to her and her husband's businesses. The Hobbit Loft is located on Shady Lane and in 2010 we'll limit its use to employee housing.

During the winter of 2006-2007 Paul completely re-modeled the downstairs portion of the Hobbit Loft Cabin.  In April 2007, Angels Rest on Resurrection Bay's office moved below the Hobbit Loft.  Eventually there will be a small gift shop too, which we hope to fill with Actually Alaskan items, including our own crafts.

During the winter of 2007-2008, Paul and his nephew Richard completed the building we call Heron's Roost, named for the Great Blue Herons that roost in the spruce trees around it. It is a 4 unit cabin, that sits across from the waterfront cabins and has great views. In mid-summer of 2008 Paul completed the 3rd waterfront cabin, Cloud 9.

Since retiring from working for others, Lynda is now able to offer her guests much more assistance in planning their Alaskan vacations, particularly their Seward stay, and has plans to expand her services to include other regions in Alaska. Her reservation services save visitors money and help ensure they have the best time possible by helping guests find the best tour or vendor to match their interests!

Beginning in 2010 Housekeeping and Laundry operations will move out of the Heron's Roost building into our summer home facility. This will enable us to give the Wood Nest room view of the bay and a twin bed.

Here is some information about both Lynda and Paul, and their arts.
Paul is, among his many skills, an extremely talented builder and carpenter.

Paul is best known for his
Silhouette Shingles and his unique artwork adorns numerous homes and businesses all around Seward and Lowell Point, and can be seen on the way to Denali, and in the Fairbanks area.

Each of the Angels Rest on Resurrection Bay Cabins are adorned with his unique shingle artwork outside and offer unusual and creative touches throughout the insides.

Yolys Bistro Downtown Seward Silhouette Shingles

This is a recent addition to downtown Seward.  Yoly's Bistro was one of our favorites, until they closed in 2008.  Look for more of Paul's artwork as you drive around Seward and Lowell Point.

Lynda is an award winning photographer and stained glass artist. She has recently taken up beading.

All of the photos seen in the web site here and at Silhouette Shingles were taken by Lynda (unless otherwise noted).

Lynda is also developing a new Actually Alaskan gift shop to include other local artists' wares in addition to her photographs, stained glass and beaded and other handiwork.

Angel Rest's Actually Alaskan gift shop will also offer a line of Angels Rest souvenirs.

Lynda created this stained glass hanging panel when she still lived in the mid-west. When she met Paul, it was very similar to the view out his dining room window.....Funny how that worked out!
